Sixteen-year-old twins Lenny and Cassy Conklin are masters of magic, but they encounter a singular
enemy in the Forge of Whispers when Cassy is kidnapped. Lenny and his friends must come to the
rescue or lose her forever to the Slave to the Forge.

Lenny Conklin is adamant about creating a haunted house for Halloween, since no one could do it
better than the Wizard of Seattle himself. His twin sister Cassy, also known as the Queen of the
Whelfs, is no slouch with magic either and agrees to help as do their friends. Lenny magically copies
a house that had burned down decades before and transforms it into the ideal haunted house.
When Cassy and dryad sister Heather were helping, they start hearing whispers. Cassy suddenly
passes out and doesn’t wake up. Heather does too, but she reawakens and explains what happened to
Lenny and his girlfriend Jenna. Matters soon become much more dire when Cassy simply vanishes
into the ether.

Master Sorcerer Scapita in the Kingdom of Duscany hears the whispers as well and identifies them
as being associated with the Forge of Whispers created by Master Sorcerer Mercilus a millennium in
the past.

Suspecting that Cassy was kidnapped by the Forge, the combined families travel into the past to
rescue her, but matters are not what they seem. The Forge is inescapable. They find that their wits
may not be sufficient to devise a means to release Cassy from the Forge. They discover that they’re
facing the greatest challenge of their lives to rescue her from Mercilus’ trap.
